Grace and Mitch’s maternity session took place on the rugged coastline of Jan Juc Beach, one my personal favourite locations on the Surf Coast due to the rugged cliffs that shroud the shoreline. We timed the shoot for golden hour, just before sunset, when the light creates a soft, warm glow to the subject and the background.
On this particular evening, the sea mist rolled in just as the light began to drop, creating a moody, cinematic atmosphere that enhanced the raw, natural beauty of the cliffs and ocean backdrop. It’s these kinds of elements — soft fog, golden light — that make outdoor maternity sessions feel truly connected to the environment.
Grace wore a lovely neutral toned dress that blended in with the natural environment, and we made use of the cliffside trails and open sand to give a mix of wide landscape shots and more intimate close-ups.
